The "enlightment" for me was to start with an simple, ugly waveform and get a nice pad sound out of it in now more then 10 minutes doing things you can understand and reproduce.

For example the pad has not much more then an oscillator with a little modulation and an effect.
#Simplesynth how to#
This is the link to the kvrforum thread, just look for videos from scrubbing monkey, I had kind of "enlightment" with his video showing how to make a pad in ten minutes.Īnd here are the tutorials, first one is the one I mentioned:Īt first sight it might look crazy to start with a modular synth BUT what makes it kind of logic for me is that you can choose yourself WHAT module you use and then start with studying exactly this one only. For example, the key and velocity ranges could be further adjusted by dragging the edge of the keygroup.I think you will get much better advices cause I have not come very far in learning that stuff but had a really good experience with fathomsynth: The keygroups can now be easily edited separately. Right-click in the Mapping Editor and choose Select All, then choose Resolve Overlapping Key Range. To do that, we’ll need to adjust the key ranges of the keygroups so they don’t overlap. Perhaps instead of stacking these sounds, this could be a split program instead, with one sound for the left hand and another for the right hand. For this keygroup, let’s choose one of the oscillator’s factory presets, such as “ Accordion”.

(1) Apps downloaded from the App Store: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, and search for the app in Launchpad interface. Let’s choose Create Keygroup > Synth Template a second time, and another keygroup will be stacked on top of the first. Additionally, if SimpleSynth 1.1 comes with a built-in uninstaller, or it was installed via the Mac App Store, there is an alternative way you can take to perform the uninstallation. To stack multiple synth sounds, we can add a second synth keygroup. We can continue building our sound by editing the other synth engine parameters, such as enabling Stereo mode and adding additional voices.Let’s change that to a sawtooth wave, by clicking the Waveform and choosing Sawtooth from the menu.
#Simplesynth Patch#
Play a few notes, and you will hear a simple sine wave oscillator. This patch is a simple synthesiser which use Trill Bar and Trill Square to control some synth parameters.A new keygroup has been created, mapped to the full key and velocity range. In the Mapping Editor, right-click and choose Create Keygroup > Synth Template. Attack, decay and release can be controlled, as well as modulator gain and frequency.
#Simplesynth mod#
It can perform FM, AM and ring mod synthesis with one carrier and one modulator, and has arpeggiator and drone modes.
